I should have read the reviews for this drive more carefully. Everything it writes to a CD produces a cyclic redundancy check error when you try to either read or copy the file. So, you can backup to a CD just fine and can read file names, but you cannot read the files on this or any other drive -> useless.

If you invest in one of the small netbooks, you will need an external drive to go with it. Because I purchased my netbook explicitly for travel I didn’t want to drag a heavy, bulky external drive along. That would negate the whole investment. There were many to choose from at the price point I wanted. They all had about the same features. The help line guy told me it looked sturdy & was light & about as small as it could be.

The 4 stars instead of 5 is because it takes two USB slots to run & doesn’t have that sturdy feel about it. It looks good, is very light, runs quiet & cool. Only time will tell If it holds up to travel bumps & bangs. If it holds up, it is a good purchase.

I ordered this burner because I have a Dell Mini which has no room for a cd/dvd drive. This burner, which came with Nero, works really well and is so, so easy to use!

purchased this for my 2008 macbook pro….cable splits and occupies two usb hubs for power etc. usb hubs are on opposite sides of the macbook, so the cord does not reach both hubs and wont work. upon contacting nu they reccomended i purchase an extension for the usb cable. I did…and it still says the device cannont run because of how much power it draws. AWESOME waste of money for me.
